 In Memoriam

We are greatly saddened by the
recent death of this SPECIAL MAN.

In addition to devoting his life
to the preserving and bettering
of lives for those children
facing cardiac problems,
Dr. Werner was a special friend
to all of us here at RIACC.

We pray that his family
and loved ones will
find peace and God's comfort
in the days and weeks ahead.

JOHN C. WERNER, M.D.

John C. Werner, M.D. came to Rhode Island in 1984, as the Director

University where he developed a service to specifically meet the
needs of young Rhode Islanders with heart disease. The division
expanded and lourished under hisleadership, including
clinical, research and outreach activities. After 16 years, Dr. Werner
left the division to open a private practice in pediatric cardiology,
drawing patients from Rhode Island, as well as Southeastern
Massachusetts. He continued to support the activities of RIACC,
keeping in close contact with Lena Lonardo, RIACC founder,
connecting her to the children and families that she serves.
Dr. Werner's educational background included medical school at
Pennsylvania State University, pediatric residency at Dartmouth
University, and a cardiology fellowship at Yale University.
